About the Business
The Anchorage is an award winning guest house in Woolmarket, a quiet street in the historic centre of Berwick-upon-Tweed. The late 18th century town house has 3 comfortable en-suite rooms on the second floor of the house.
The house was named the Anchorage by the Georgian sea captain who had the house built for himself. The ornate ground floor stone carving was carried out by Italian stone masons brought to Berwick especially to work on the Anchorage.
The Anchorage Guest House is only 2 minutes walk from the centre of the historic town with bars, restaurants and the Maltings theater and cinema all clustered in the town centre. Sandra and Ian have run the Anchorage for 4 years and have been awarded a Trip Advisor Award for Excellence for the last 3 years.
