About the Business
The Rook Guest House in Cockermouth is an 18th century town house situated close to the mediaeval Cockermouth Castle. The house is very interesting and unique with a wealth of period features including exposed beams and stonework, fireplaces and a stone spiral staircase leading to the upper two floors. The Rook is very close to a wide range of restaurants, pubs, cafes and teashops for your gastronomic needs. All other facilities and shops are within easy walking distance. We are open all year except Christmas. Children and quiet dogs are welcome by prior arrangement. Cockermouth is ideally situated for visiting the Lake District, the Cumbrian coast and the Border country. The high fells are in easy reach with peaks such as Haystacks and Red Pike being only a short drive. For cyclists the C2C and Reivers cycling routes both pass through Cockermouth and safe storage can be provided for bicycles.
